    El misionero José Acasuso le ganó en dos sets a Guillermo“Willy”  Cañas por  7-5 y 6-3 en  la final del clásico torneo de verano disputado en  el Conrad Resort & Casino de Punta del Este que contó además, con la participación del argentino  Gastón Gaudio y del uruguayo Pablo Cuevas,  en un torneo de exhibición que les sirvió  como preparación para la próxima temporada, que se iniciará a partir de la primera semana del 2007.
 

    “Chucho” Acasuso había arribado a la final, tras dejar en el camino al local Pablo Cuevas (230), mientras que  Cañas había vencido, en la otra semifinal a Gastón Gaudio (34).

    El torneo contó con una perfecta organización, fue acompañado durante las dos jornadas con gran cantidad de público y presentó un grupo de “ball girls” que cumplieron un excelente trabajo, algo similar como sucede en Master Series de Madrid.

    La segunda edición del Indoor Master Tennis 2006 jugada en el estadio Orfeo de la ciudad de Córdoba, fue nuevamente para el unquillense David Nalbandián al ganarle al chileno Nicolás Massú por 6/3 y 6/4 ante una aceptable cantidad de publico. En primer turno José Acasuso venció a Juan Monaco por 6/4 y 6/3, por el tercer puesto.
