聽聽聽 “Hace mucho que perd铆 aquel partido y eso hace que me sienta particularmente fuerte por ello, pero tambi茅n es verdad que no hay 50 encuentros al a帽o en esta superficie, la preocupaci贸n pasa por mi mente cada vez que juego un partido, me聽tengo confianza,聽no quiero ser el defensor del t铆tulo que cae a la primera rueda“, se帽al贸.

聽聽聽 Para el suizo esta edici贸n ser谩 diferente, porque por primera vez acude a Wimbledon sin participar en el torneo de Halle, que tambi茅n ha ganado los 煤ltimos cuatro a帽os, y que le ha servido de trampol铆n para alzar luego la copa en el All England Tennis Club.

聽聽聽 “Si fuera supersticioso tendr铆a que haber jugado Halle de nuevo, pero no soy de ese tipo de personas. Tengo que cuidar mi f铆sico primero, mi espalda y mi abductor. Los 煤ltimos dos a帽os fueron muy dif铆ciles despu茅s de alcanzar las semifinales y la final de Par铆s“, dijo Federer.

聽聽聽 El suizo explic贸 que en otras temporadas llegaba de Halle cansado y con dolores. “Estaba demasiado cansado y casi no pod铆a entrenarme. Este a帽o quer铆a hacer algo diferente y ahora siento que estoy totalmente preparado para Wimbledon“, coment贸.

聽聽聽 “Me siento mucho m谩s descansado porque he tenido m谩s d铆as libres, pero tambi茅n echo un poco en falta partidos. Por eso las primeras rondas son obviamente muy importantes“, puntualiz贸 el suizo.

聽聽聽 Federer se encontrar谩 ma帽ana lunes con un estadio central diferente, sin el techo que proteg铆a a los espectadores en las tribunas, un paso previo a la construcci贸n del techo corredizo previsto para el 2009. El aspecto original se ver谩 alterado pero Federer cree que esta incidencia tambi茅n puede alterar el juego.

聽聽聽 Federer destac贸: “Desde luego ser谩 diferente porque el viento llegar谩 con mayor facilidad a la pista, pero la atm贸sfera continuar谩 siendo 煤nica porque la pista central siempre esta totalmente llena“, sobre los favoritos,聽 mencion贸 dos nombres, el serbio Novak Djokovic y el estadounidense Andy Roddick. “Creo que Djokovic ha estado jugando muy bien, y que llegar谩 lejos,聽pero si Andy est谩 en forma, y creo que lo est谩, tambi茅n es un favorito porque la hierba es una de sus mejores superficies. Tambi茅n hay otros jugadores pero no he estudiado el cuadro lo suficiente“.

聽聽聽 El suizo cumplir谩聽los primeros d铆as聽de agosto 26 a帽os y uno de sus deseos es que cuando tenga casi 31 pueda regresar a Wimbledon para la cita ol铆mpica. “Siempre he dicho alto y claro que mi gran objetivo es volver aqu铆 en el 2012 y jugar en Wimbledon los Juegos Olimpicos dos meses luego de Wimblendon.聽 Queda mucho a煤n y ya veremos como estoy f铆sicamente pero es algo que me gustar铆a“, sostuvo Federer.

聽聽聽 Rafael Nadal, recibi贸 el premio Don Felipe de Borb贸n聽por deportista espa帽ol que m谩s se ha distinguido durante el a帽o 2006 en su actuaci贸n deportiva, y declar贸, al t茅rmino del acto en el que recibi贸 su trofeo, que Wimbledon es el torneo que peor se le presenta, “Rafa” afirm贸,… “no creo que gane, el a帽o pasado llegu茅 a la final, pero la realidad es que es el torneo que peor se me presenta, estoy muy agradecido a la Casa Real, siempre me han tratado con una gran deferencia y no puedo sino mostrar mi agradecimiento. La grandeza de estos premios vienen por la presencia de toda la Familia Real“.

聽聽聽 Nadal, que disfruta de unos d铆as de descanso luego de su eliminaci贸n en el torneo de Quenn’s, hizo un repaso a la primera parte de la temporada. “He tenido una gran temporada en tierra y ahora estoy unos d铆as de descanso. Recibir este premio es una gran alegr铆a. El mi茅rcoles viajar茅 a Wimbledon para tratar de hacer un buen torneo鈥.

聽聽聽 Andy Roddick se impuso el domingo al franc茅s Nicolas Mahut por un sensacional 4-6, 7-6 y 7-6 para alzarse con su cuarto trofeo de Queen’s en cinco a帽os.

聽聽聽 El americano,聽sobrevivi贸 a un punto de partido en el “tiebreak” del segundo set para arruinar las esperanzas de Mahut de conseguir su primer t铆tulo,聽al ganar segundo “tiebreak” por 9-7 y, aunque no encontr贸 la forma de romper el servicio de Mahut en todo el partido, se alz贸 con el t铆tulo.

聽聽聽 Despu茅s de haber tenido la suerte de que el franc茅s fallara una bola de partido en el segundo set, Roddick tuvo que jugarse el trofeo en el ‘tie-break’ de la tercera manga de un partido extraordinario.

聽聽聽 Entonces logr贸 superar por fin al franc茅s subiendo a la red, para unir su nombre a los de John McEnroe, Boris Becker y Lleyton Hewitt ganando por cuarta vez el tradicional torneo que sirve de calentamiento para Wimbledon.

聽聽聽 Su victoria es una buena se帽al de cara a Wimbledon, donde cay贸 en la final ante el n煤mero uno mundial, Roger Federer, en 2004 y 2005, luego de聽un mal comienzo de temporada, el estadounidense ha ido mejorando a lo largo de la semana, siempre apoy谩ndose en su gran servicio. “Este ha sido, con diferencia, el partido m谩s duro que he jugado aqu铆 nunca y me siento bastante afortunado por seguir en el c铆rculo de los ganadores. Espero llevar esta buena racha a Wimbledon“, declar贸 Roddick.

聽聽聽 Mahut, especialista en c茅sped, sorprendi贸 en este torneo al eliminar en cuartos de final al n煤mero dos del mundo, Rafael Nadal, despu茅s de derrotar al croata Ivan Ljubicic. “Recordar茅 este d铆a siempre. Ha sido como un sue帽o. He estado a un punto de lograrlo, Lo he hecho lo mejor posible pero Andy ha sido demasiado bueno. Es un gran jugador y un gran campe贸n“, dijo el franc茅s, que despu茅s de su actuaci贸n en Queen’s tendr谩 que disputar la fase de clasificaci贸n en Wimbledon.聽聽聽聽聽
